The six-part series begins with an hour-long episode on Saturday 16 March on Radio 4 and continues with five 30-minute instalments on Radio 4 Extra from Monday 18 March.
The show has followed the reverse trajectory to that of Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy. That started on radio, became a book and was then adapted for TV.
Neverwhere went from the screen to the page and now to the wireless. Shame it seems to have missed out on the “actually rather good movie that gets undeserved criticism from all over the place” stage.
The image at the head of the post isn’t the first look at the radio version’s cast, but it is the first one to be posed and lit and modeled like this.
Not pictured, but specifically praised by Gaiman on Twitter, are Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins. Director Dirk Maggs certainly rounded up the talent; here’s hoping he made the best use of all of the great material and actors at his disposal.
