Agents of SHIELD ratings continue to drop

via: Entertainment Weekly

On Tuesday night, S.H.I.E.L.D. had 7.1 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. This is still a good rating in this slot, especially when ABC has also recently launched freshman dramas that are much weaker, like Lucky 7Betrayal and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Yet here’s how the Marvel series has tracked so far in the adult demo: A 4.7 rating for the show’s premiere, then 3.3, 2.9, 2.8 and now a 2.6.

It’s common for even successful and long-running new shows to drop the first two weeks after their launch, or even for three weeks. But now we’re on Week 5. We’re seeing some new shows stabilize or even improve in the ratings — last night, under-achievers like Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine and ABC’s The Goldbergs finally crept up a bit. On Monday night, CBS’ Mom went up for the first time and Hostagesheld steady. Yet S.H.I.E.L.D is still trending down. Can Melinda May pull the S.H.I.E.L.D. jet out of its dive? Comic veteran Jim Steranko says the show has found its groove creatively. So why are fans still ditching? ABC has ordered a full season of S.H.I.E.L.D., so it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. But those numbers must stop dropping at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Also last night: ABC’s Trophy Wife was down 8 percent and is on death watch. CBS’ dramas were steady. NBC’sBiggest Loser slipped 13 percent, The Voice was flat and Chicago Fire was down 9 percent. The CW’s Originalslost some of last week’s gains, but Supernatural was steady. Full chart:

🙁 I’ve been watching this live with friends, I wonder if watching online helps numbers at all.

I’ve been enjoying it, though it’s not Sherlock. More character development, more back story, more hints dropped about Coulson, etc. The episode where they rescue a former agent was pretty good. The most recent episode was a little contrived but made huge leaps in finding out about characters. Doctor Who tends to have seriously off episodes, I haven’t felt that any of these are quite that “off” so far.

It’s been ok, part of the problem I see is, they have pretty much made “hacker girl” the central person, and she’s probably the least interesting to me, and is still working on acting ability. And show wise, the person Shield should know not to trust.

Unfortunately I’m in class when it comes on, so I have no option but to watch it online or on demand a day or two later.

I’m not overly impressed with the show at the moment but it has great potential if it can build some of the characters a bit more, so we want to know what happens with them.

I thought the last two episodes were better. The rescue episode being the strongest this season. But it’s still lacking something. I enjoy it, though, and it’s one of my more anticipated shows.

I like it better than Dollhouse. I think there’s some limitations because it’s a “known” universe. I also am mildly annoyed by the main hacker-character, but I don’t dislike her. Her acting was best in the most recent episode. I think Clark Gregg does a good job of carrying the show, though Ming-Na Wen’s character is starting to gain more depth, which I like.
